THE INKORE GLOSSARY

Prompt

A prompt is the request or instruction given to an AI to guide the work it prepares: goal, sources, format and limits.

Also known as: instruction · request · brief

A prompt isn’t a magic formula: it’s a brief. The more clearly it states the expected result and its limits, the less the AI fills the gaps with guesses.

A good prompt often fits in four lines: the result, the audience, the sources and what must not be made up.

IN A REAL SITUATION

For example.

“Summarise these notes without adding any date that isn’t in the sources, then list the points to confirm.”

IN INKORE

How Inkore applies it.

In Inkore, the prompt is simply your message in the conversation. Sources are chosen separately, and the Use cases library offers starting points.

The point to keep in mind.

State the goal, the sources, the format and the limits.

Not to be confused with: Context

The prompt says what to do; the context says what to work from.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do you need to learn “prompt engineering”?

For everyday work, what matters most is briefing well: the expected result, the audience, the sources and the limits. Advanced techniques matter less than clarity. A request that fits in four clear lines is usually easier to review, to correct and to reuse than a long, clever prompt.
